    c2 small block rear stabilizer

Confused again! redoing rear suspension and rear end on 66 327/300hp/PS/3:36posi.Took off some make shift rear stabilizer, no factory rear stabilizer for 66 small block, distributor suggests using the 396 rear stabilizer. Do I even need this stabilizer? Should I just leave it off and try without it? I searched archives and although helpful confusing to the novice like myself.

    Joe -

Leave it off - rear stabilizer bars were only used on big-block midyears, in combination with a larger-diameter front stabilizer bar. Adding a rear stabilizer bar without making the corresponding change to the front bar will result in undesirable oversteer characteristics.
