    C2 Erratic Ammeter

My ammeter gauge keeps jumping off the scale to the positive side and then snaps back to a normal reading. Otherwise it appears to be operating normally. If it was jumping to the discharge side, I would suspect a short, but I don't know what to make of the sudden jumps to the positive side. The original voltage regulator and alternator were restored a few years ago. Any thoughts on what would cause the issue and how to diagnose?

    Thanks!

Try resetting your voltage regulator. There is a good explaination in the new 63-64 judging manual on page 180-181. I just happen to stumble on it while breezing thru. Also in the chevy repair manual.
