F41 rubber bushings
Does anyone know of a supplier for rubber sway bar bushings for the F41 suspension, 69 car. Front bar is 15/16, rear is 9/16? Thanks,

The bushings used for the front bar were originally GM #3923674. These same bushings were used for 3/4", 7/8" and 15/16" bars. These bushings are still available from GM today for about 9 bucks, each, GM list. Now, when you look at these bushings it will APPEAR that the hole is too small and that the bushing is too "tall". That's because you're looking at them in the UNCOMPRESSED condition. These bushings are designed to COMPRESS into the retainers and around the bar. If they didn't, they would not work properly. The amount of compression required is SUBSTANTIAL. You will need to use longer bolts for the retainers to accomplish this. Using the longer bolts, pull the retainers down and compress the bushings. Then, after it's complete, remove the bolts one at a time and replace them with the correct bolts.
The rear bushings are GM #481432. This is a replacement number, but it will work just fine. Still available from GM for about 8 bucks, GM list.
Dr. Rebuild also has these bushings. He describes the front bushings as being for standard suspension, but if he has them for standard suspension, he has them for F-41 since they are the same. He probably stopped offering these as fitting F-41 because he had too many folks bitch at him that they didn't fit.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -
