Does any viewer know a way to preserve the label on a convertible soft top ? ? I thought I had found a way by gluing it down but all that did was stain the top. All ideas appreciated. Bill #20328
Hi Bill I have used a clear plastic cover that a local top installer made for me. It is about 1/8 thick, a little over the width of the label and is heat bent in a 180 degree at the bottom. It then pushes on the lower seam of the top. It is tight enough to stay there even on the road. I have used them for 30 years and have only lost maybe two. Call Jim O'Niel at Lonestar restorations in Portland Oregon. His number is 503-252-1671. Tell Jim I said to call as he is the Man to do these covers. Let me know how it works out. Regards JR PS He goes fishing a lot as this is spring Chinook salmon season so keep trying till you get him.
Well knock me over with a feather. Of all the Joe Lucia posts I've read--I can't believe you use such on a driver. I kept my tag in a binder, but I never imagined having a dirt prophylactic for a top tag. I'm not being critical; you're just always so practical about everything.

Never drive it with the top up. Simple because there is no need to have the top up when you would drive a top flight Corvette.

HI Marc It is an honor to have been mistaken for Joe Lucia as he is considered one of the best on the DB. I have never been able to travel with the top down as the back end is loaded with luggage. I do drive my cars to the meets and my 63 was a Duntov award car and I am prsently going for A Duntov on my 66 Roadster. If you have a roadster this plastic clip is the best I have seen until something better comes along. I am also a points Wh*** until I achieve the Duntov. Regards JR
