Can anyone verify this part #19187301 as the new number for PF35 oil filter. I got this # e-mailed to me via GM Parts Direct the other day and yet it won't show it as a good # in their "search".

GM #19187301 is, indeed, the part number for the AC "Classic" PF-35 oil filter. This is the filter with "white" background and red silk screen as used through about 1973. They should be now available although they might not be "in the system" just yet.
Keep in mind that the PF-35 was never originally used for any Corvette application although they can be used for any 1969-91 Corvette. The "white" PF-25 was used for 1969-73 Corvettes. A version of it is available under GM #19187300. It does not have the bottom side embossment seen on original 1969 through ABOUT 1971 PF-25's and it may be a little different in other respects, too.
If you're just after an oil filter for a 1968-91 Corvette and don't care about the "classic" design, use an AC PF-1218.

One more thought / question. Is there a newer "non-classic" PF35 filter replacement. In otherwords a taller, larger capacity than the PF25 / PF1218 that would be available thru GMPD?

Not that I know of. The PF-1218 is the replacement for the PF-35. You can, however, get the PF-35L which is a synthetic media version of the PF-35. However, as I recall, the current PF-35L is just a bit shorter than the original PF-35 and PF-35L.
