Re: C4 Build sheet locations
I want to thank all that responded to my post. I have great news. I found my original build sheet and I found it glued to the top front side of my fuel tank above the spare tire carrier. It was glued on and I got it out in a few pieces and was able to tape it back together. After 23 years, it was in pretty good condition. What you need to do is drop the spare, place the lower carrier in the extended position, lay down and look up between the body, rear sway bar and tank and if it's there, you'll see the bottom edge of the sheet. I carefully used a long sharp knife to travel under the glue stripe and break away the paper. You will not be able to get it all but with a needle nose pliers, you can get the rest. Thanks again to all NCRS members for your knowledge. Rick- Top

Re: C4 Build sheet locations
I have no desire to change the subject of your thread, and am glad you found your build sheet. I note you didn't say what kind of tape you used, so I am not being critical of whatever you did. That said...
Do not use cellophane tape to attach the pieces together. With time cellophane tape will deteriorate, discolor and damage the paper it is attached to. Best practice is to glue the pieces to acid-free rice paper using wheat paste glue. Materials and tips for conservation are available from Light Impressions web site. There may be other sources for paper preservation materials as well.Terry- Top

Re: C4 Build sheet locations
Thanks Terry for a complete and accurate procedure to keep the build sheet from further deterioration. I did use acid free paper, but I did make the mistake of using the wrong tape. I am going to have it laminated so I think that might help preserve it longer.

Re: C4 Build sheet locations
The nice thing about the newer cars is that records exist even if a sheet is destroyed or missing. Like the others mentioned, the museum offers a reprint of your sheet. Glad you had the fun experience of finding a sheet on your car. It is a thrill.Tom Hendricks

Re: C4 Build sheet locations
Lamination, in the proper plastic is currently the best preservation method.
Having access to "new" documents is a decided advantage to the newer cars, but there is nothing like the thrill of finding THE original paperwork. I was able to compare the assembly line "build sheet" from my 2008 to the museum produced document -- and I couldn't find any difference, but both items were produced at virtually the same time.Terry- Top
