    62 radiator

Just pulled the radiator out to get to the drain valve. It appears to be brass but I thought all these were supposed to be aluminum. It has a number on a little tag (D 5 82) what does this mean? Also on the right column is 85181-3.E.AS. Not sure what this is. Do they make a longer drain tube. I could not get to it from under the car. This is my first vette since I came back from Nam in 1970. That one was a pretty nice 62 that I sold in 1971 beforre we got married. (only $2500). Sure wish I new then.

    Re: 62 radiator

I'm thinking that the (D 5 82) is the date code April 5,1982 for a replacement brass radiator, the original radiator in a 62 was made of aluminium.

The drain on the aluminum radiator has a aluminum tube then a aluminum connector and then the petcock which is also aluminum.
The correct setup allows you to easily drain the radiator through the hole in the bottom of the core support.
