Hello everyone! What a great community and organization. My name is Tim Allen and I have been frame on restoring my 1959 for about 2 years (while I drive it) and I have had a great time. I move from area to area and have found it very relaxing and gratifying. Here is my new guy, rookie question:
I just removed my fuel tank in order to replace the fuel filler hose, clamps and just restore the entire area. What I found was no pads for under the tank and six round holes cut out in the bottom of the fiberglass tank cavity. Two on the left, two on the right and two in the center. Are these holes supposed to be covered or plugged up by something? You can see right down to the road. They are in sunken cavities within the body and are too big for regular rubber plugs that are used throughout the car. Was this for ventilation? It seems to me that water and all kinds of stuff would get up in that area. Sorry I am asking a dumb question......
