    68 Master Cylinder Cover

I have a late 68 (built Aug. 6th) and it has a 69 master cylinder cover on it. Is it possible that this was original to the car? Anyone else out there with a late 68 with this same issue?

If I do need a 68 cover, anyone know where to get one? I never see them on ebay and they don't make a repo. I would have thought that they would have been used on about any old 68 Chevrolet.

    Thanks

There is no difference in configuration or functionality between a 1968 and 1969 Corvette master cylinder cover. The difference relates only to a change in the embossment script on the domes. I presume that's what you're referring to.

The style of script used for 1968 is generally regarded as having been used into the early part of 1969 model year, too. So, it's unlikely that a 1968 would be found with the later script. It's not impossible, though; it's very possible that these covers were used on an "overlapping" basis. There was no difference in the part number for the covers.

You might be able to find a cover of the style used for 1968 in a wrecking yard. However, the 1967+ Corvette style master cylinder was not used for all other Chevrolets of the period. You'd need to find a 1968 Chevrolet car WITH DISC BRAKES that still had its original master cylinder cover.

      Thanks Joe

Yes, I was referring to the script.
