    Another fine Corvette gone...

This Corvette was, until last evening, a Duntov quality car.
    Now it's not.

Many of you know the last two owners (not the current accidental one) and its judging history.

Old cars and alcohol don't mix any better than newer cars and alcohol.

I am not passing judgement yet, the article only states "suspected". Either way sad day for that 62. As my dad always said "nothing good ever happens after midnight"

Interesting fact at the end of the story:

"Of the top 10 most populous counties in the United States, Harris County has the highest percentage of alcohol-related crashes."

        Be safe in Harris County.

That's ashame. When it's tree vs. Corvette, the tree will when every time. Not the car you want to be driving in an accident. Not only for the loss of the car, but without modern safety features. Hope the driver is okay.

Was that the "last 62"? I hope not.

I have been hoping to have mine look that nice since I started the project. Maybe I should be happy she's safe and on the lift! Sad day indeed.

Thanks Pat....indeed it is very sad to see.

Any word on if alcohol was a contributing factor?

Andy I believe that it is in the 20867S102XXX range. Closer to the first then the last... Eric

                          Re: Another fine Corvette gone...

...Gee, with all this concern over a damn CAR, does anyone know who was driving it, and the condition of the individual? I mean, if it really was a Duntov '62 that everyone is drooling over and crying about because it's gone and secretly waiting for the salvaged parts to hit Ebay, I would tend to believe the driver was an NCRS member, I could be wrong....but it just seems that there's less concern for the DRIVER and his FAMILY than the CAR. The thought that he got lucky and wrecked only the car and possibly himself, and nobody else affects me a lot more than another chunk of fiberglass split in half. Booze-related or not, I'm glad that nobody else was involved, and maybe if alcohol WAS involved, this little episode will straighten him out a bit. I know it would sober me up.
Either way, I hope the driver is OK and his family is being supported. If he was drunk, and he's alive, he's getting one hell of a second chance. If he wasn't drunk and it was a freak accident, he still got one hell of a second chance. There's plenty of Duntov '62's out there. Just go to ProTeam.

Jeremy, you are absolutley right. I hope the driver recovers. Cars can be replaced. SOmetimes I lose sight of the real important thing in life. Eric

i agree as i have owned new just about everyone of these "valued" cars and they were just cars. what has changed is now they are worth money but a lot of the value is inflation.
