    C3 Shock Tag Question

I am restoring some shocks for a 1976 that do not have the small paper tags on them. The Judging Guide says JX in the rear and JY in the front. The Corvette Central Catalog says CH in the rear and CJ in the front. My 1976 was made in October of 1975; can someone tell me what tag is correct, and where on the shock the tag is placed? A picture would be great if someone could email me a picture of one on the shock!

    Thanks!

    Re: C3 Shock Tag Question

    Christopher:

Interesting question. the tag letters represent the broadcast code for the shocks used by the factory to pull parts from bins. I have a code chart that shows for 76 (as well as from 73-78) that the JX and JY codes were used. However, copies of build sheets in the mycollection show the CH CJ codes.

Take comfort that in flight judging, tags aren't judged. I looked but couldn't find any shock codes.
