Kevin, I buy lots of parts on the internet and choose to use it often. There are some people in this Society that simply can not use it. My argument is that the same problem everyone here has with the Driveline will also happen online only eliminate those without PCs. I know most of us have missed an ebay auction or have been outbid. We have also missed opportunities on other forums or online classifieds like cars.com, like I did this weekend on a 70 I wanted to buy, but no one seems to mention that in this thread. This is a supply problem not communications problem.
It comes down to the lowest common denominator. I think we all can read, but we don't all use PCs. We also all joined on the premise that we would receive the Driveline and the Restorer whether we like it or not. Going back 35 years the society has always offered some form of printed ad publication. THe Driveline is simply a very ingrained institution. Now that being said there will come a day when some form of online trading will occur, but that transition will make this thread look tame.
Looks to me like a for sale/want to buy section, would be a win-win situation. And of course, any one who doesn't wish to search "for sale" items, could simply pass that section up.

Fair enough.
I am most certainly trying to say your point of view is wrong. In fact, I guarantee it is all true.
I guess my point is that I just see room and reason for both to peacefully co-exist, and not really be a problem.
here is a post I made several days after the new DB came online:
Now that the "new and improved" DB has been up and running for a couple of days - time to ask a pertinent question.
Will the DRIVELINE now be provided online in electronic form? Now, doing that will really bring us into the 21 century!
Any plans to have a FOR SALE section on the DB, if the DRIVELINE will not be provided electronically?
And, while we are at it, what about putting the RESTORER online, also?
Response was we need to learn how to crawl before we walk - in other words there are more changes coming - be patient and let everyone get used to the new format - in other words MORE TO FOLLOW
In fact, if you go back to Vito's welcome message, he indicates more will follow, but that it will take time.
Hey there, I just wanted to say that I don't want the Driveline or the Restorer to go away, or to just move it to electronic media overnight. I answered this thread, and started the pole on the same subject, to allow members for a "show of hands" on how they feel on the subject. The driveline is a great resource, and I am sur ethe advertising more than pays for the publishing ans delivery. The same could be done electronically, OVER TIME. Monitoring the change, and responding to those changes is just smart business. Keep up the good work!!
