They were dipped only partially as, what I've been told, part of an inspection process. They were not fully dipped fom either end. The machined areas should be void of any paint.

The attached pictures are of an original 23,000 mile '67 spindle. Upon close inspection, both spindles had evidence of orange paint everywhere except the machined bearing surface. There was even paint on the surface where the cork seal sits.
