Does anyone know if the St. Louis plant had some extra 1967 bodies in case a special order came in or a car have excesive damage prior to completion, and they needed a car. I have a Smith car that is very real, and very unique. The trim tag has the body build date J16, sequence numbers correct, vin June 1, 67 sequence. The paint and interior sections on the tag are blank. I am the second owner, documents include the POP, tank sticker, letter from individual that ordered the car on April 19, 1967and photos of the car in 68-69. In addition I have letters from GM and a telegram informing the order that GM is expideting his car. The car was produced in 30 days instead of the usual 60 to 90 days. The car is still all original paint, blackout, interior , drivetrain...has anyone else seen this. I have found two high ranking judges that say they have seen blank tags. This car is real, I am going to try to attach photos.

Really neat car, the east coast is asleep in the morning I'm sure you'll get a answer then. Would love to see a whole picture of the sticker, we can add the zone and dealer to the database.

Nope, St. Louis didn't have "extra bodies" - both A.O. Smith and St. Louis built bodies in response to dealer orders. I think what you have is a trim tag that simply didn't get the paint and trim numbers embossed on it.- Top
