61 top fender molding

For my '61, I have a set of NOS top fender moldings. Does anyone have, or know where I can get the correct speed nuts for them? Maybe a photo of what they look like? Were the studs threaded? Thanks for your help, Jim

What’s the GM part number from the ‘61 AIM? For my ‘66, I found that none of the typical repro speed nuts for the hood or rear Corvette script emblems had the correct finish, or OD, and the repros lacked the dum-dum sealant compared to what I took off and compared to GM NOS examples I eventually found. Of course, the dum-dum is easy to add. But the repro OD is not easy to correct.

They were not threaded. The speed nuts cut threads on the studs. To istall, lubricate the stud so you don’t break a stud off.

According to latest 61-62 JG, "early" 1961 used threaded studs with flat washers. I can't tell you what constitutes early 1961. Later 1961 and 62 had unthreaded studs with 2 types of self-threading nuts observed. See page 101.
