I just tried to register for the hotel. It will only let me check in on Thursday and will not let me check out Sunday. I typically arrive on Wednesday for Thursday Ops and don't leave until Sunday morning because of flight judging on Saturday and the banquet Saturday night.

As of January 22, it looks like Wed the 16th is now available at the hotel.
Still can't get a Sunday 20th checkout though...

I have been trying to reserve a room. The online reservation does not show any rooms available. I called the hotel, and they have no rooms available for July 18. Are you adding any rooms at this hotel or nearby?

The committee under estimated the response to the first "Show-Me" Regional and frankly did not set up a large enough block of rooms at the University Plaza Hotel. The block is suprisingly filled and the hotel can make no more rooms available to the block at this time. We do hope to have some additional rooms there should they become available, however...

Just tried to book the Tru and it will not take the reservation. Called the hotel and they cannot book and said it had to be done on line, but that is not working.

Hey Bob,

Sorry for you difficulty. I just used the link to do a test booking a room, then modify the room by type and stay nights, then cancel the room. The booking worked fine. Rememebr to change the dates first if you are not planning to stay all four nights because it defaults to that.

I did call the hotel and they have the Group Sales Manger checking the link to make sure it works correctly. I was told they cannot handle the group sales reservations by phone locally, but I was told the Hilton number to call for assistance is 888-446-6677.

I too am having trouble booking a room at the University Plaza on the website attached to the Regional Registration. Graphic says the hotel is booked. I know Bob Demmel was having difficulties about a week ago. Does anyone know if the hotel is full or not?

I'll give that a try but I'm surprised it's full already. Any chance of the room block being increased?

Unfortunately what happens is that some members will make hotel reservations before making their event registrations.

Thus hotel rooms can have limited to no availability.

Often those members do not come to the event and cancel their hotel reservations a month or less before the event, which is normally after the host hotel room block end date.

The Texas Chapter compares the hotel reservations list with the Texas Regional registration list and notifies those members that have hotel reservations but no event registrationst to cancel the hotel reservations or register for the event.

Yes, I routinely do that, it ensures I have a room at the host hotel, and the paperwork for entering a car sometimes takes a few months to obtain so it is in force for the event.

Yes, many of us judges do the same. We do this to save the room. Many times there are no cars to judge, so we do not attend and cancel the room. It expensive for the registration, hotel and flights, then get to the Regional and have nothing to do. It is good to have the cars registered for the event (Regional and National) listed on the tech. board, so we can make an earlier decision about attending.
