Help with date of race car wheel and tire combo

Hi,
I have a 62 corvette race car.
as I am going through the parts I have found the original 15 x 5.5 wheels and one has a tire on it.
Can someone help me with dating the tire.
It is a Goodyear, Sports Car Special, 6.50/6.70-15

I'm familiar with early sixties racing tires... have a set of 7.00-15 GY Blue Streak Sports Car Specials. You should post more photos about what's on the sidewall including the size.

The tread on the sides looks like a Dunlop R6, but the center is...?

A lot of guys ran recaps back then on old racing tire casings and my best guess is that's what you have.

Yes, I believe it is a recap. In the second photo on the extreme left notice the "roughened" area (below the cap). This is typical of recapped tires in which the tread and a portion of the sidewall is ground down to facilitate necessary tread removal and adhesion of the "cap".

Racing tires have a very thin rubber coating on the sidewalls relative to road tires such that the outline of the low angle cord is faintly visible, and I think I see this in the second photo.

I downloaded the photo and was able to increase the size enough to read "Sports Car Special" opposite Goodyear, so these are definitely early sixties vintage recapped GY racing tires.

In looking at the date code , it appears to be a 62.
The car was one of a couple cars of Roy Kumnick.
This one was races in 62-70's.
