    64 Front Outer Splash Shield

Sec. 11-13 A3.00 in the AIM refers to a LOWER REAR PANEL through which the 2 bolts go on the outboard side of the shield. My car did not have those front outer shields - I purchased new ones - can't figure out what is missing, as there is no ridge or bracket to support outboard side on either the RH or LH side. Any help is appreciated.

I don't understand why they referred to it as lower rear panel. But, here are pics of my driver side, front out splash shield two attachment bolts. From below and from inside fender.

Thanks Don. Are there fiberglass tabs on the outboard side through which the bolts go through? Is the mounting piece an added-on piece or a part of the inner fender? And finally - is any of this mounting tab associated with the rocker molding? Your help is appreciated. Ron

Ron- The mounting piece of fiberglass, that is referred to as lower rear panel is the bottom of the rear of the front fender just back of the fender tab that is removed for mounting N14 exhaust. This horizontal piece of front fender is not associated with the rocker molding.. Perhaps your front clip lacks this piece of horizontal front fender, ie lower rear panel.

Thanks Don - that is good info. I have a piece of horizontal fiber about 6" long which seems like the piece upon which the shield rests. Think I just need to drill some holes in that piece.

This NCRS site has been invaluable for me - nothing like starting to restore a car which had many modifications. My last restore, but the advice to buy and not restore is a lot easier on the pocket book. However, it is the process upon which I have become hooked. Don't cruise and spend lots on vacations, so spend the money in the shop. Best regards.
