1957 C1 Dual Quad Fuel Requirements and Oil
I am new to the NCRS and I am planning on purchasing a 1957 Corvette and I can't see what type/Octane fuel to use or the proper Oil. The present owner was not clear what he uses.

Download the 1957 Corvette Vehicle Information Package pdf from gmheritage.com. I know the fuel spec is in there but it's the RON rating not current PON.
Assuming the engine is reasonably to original spec and is NOT the 283 HP FI version the original advertised CR is 9.5:1 and I recall back in the sixties the 270 would operate okay on regular which is equivalent to today's 87 PON. The 245 was actually more octane sensitive because the shorter cam yielded a higher DCR.
Of course, you likely have no idea about the engine's current internals so you'll have to run your own tests.
I don't see how the current owner is "not clear" what he uses. What are the current generally available PONs in your area, which one does he use, and does he use any "additive", which for the most part are worthless?
He sound's like some kind of moron or charlatan, so beware of what you are buying. If you are not familiar with vintage Corvettes I hope you are working with someone who knows these cars so you don't get screwed, and it would help if you could tell us more about the car.
You have a lot to learn and you can start by looking at the restoration documents thread at the end of the sticky section and for starters download the tuning seminar and engine oil article. The former will teach you about octane ratings and the latter about the readily available engine oils that are best for your vintage engine.
You should find many other threads that interest you.
