    Horn relay plan

So am trying to figure out a plan for my horn relay. Looks to be an aftermarket replacement. No "Delco Remy" on the top. There are four digits on top but do not correspond in any way to the 68 or 69 part numbers. If that is the case I don't see much/any value in restoring this one (gen2restorations does them as one option)....NOS or used seem unobtanium...so thinking of getting one from Lectric Limited. Anyone have any thoughts? suggestions on a better plan? I do want to stay as "correct" as possible....recognizing the challenges in doing so in this case.

Bonus point question: The TIM&JG talks about an extra wire similar to the red one on top in my pics as being for AC. My car has never had AC...so why is that wire there? It would appear to route back into the harness that goes across the firewall toward the wiper washer area...haven't fully traced it yet.

    Thanks!
    Keith

Possibly a previous owner by-passed the main red wire at the bulkhead connection. We are all so very aware of the "red wire syndrome" affecting these cars. Check and see if there is a red wire down at the bulkhead connection that is going directly through the firewall.

          Just checking.
That can also bring in an extra red wire.

So, follow it and see where it goes.

And my old brain misstated what it is...which is a horn relay. Thank u.

And I did try to trace ..in and out of harnesses and sub harnesses and splices and splits.and red wire becoming green wire...as best I can tell it ends up going to the starter. Electrical is a weak point for me.

                Patrick,
The power window option brings into play its' own relay. A twin to the headlamp relay.

That IS the horn relay. The pictures didn't appear when I first opened the link. David Sokolowski will have a new, NOS or good used one for you.

                    I'm well aware.
But on 70-72s it brings a large red wire to the horn relay. It's not a stretch to think it would be present on a 69.

Thanks but....Have tried buying from him a half dozen times in the last 3 years without success. Nothing on my end...he just ghosts...every time. His ads in Driveline I just cruise on by. Unfortunate as he seems to have every part known to man. Not an option for me.

Hmmm..that is interesting...particularly has my car as some "elements" of a 70 car...being a late Oct 69 build. But zero evidence of power windows ever. Was there a harness diff between power windows and not?

Another thought...If my tracing is correct to the starter...I believe one of the PO Bubbas installed some sort of alarm system. If true would it make sense to have a wire between horn relay and starter?

Also, I changed text in my prior message to "horn" and asked mods to change the title for benefit of posterity.
