C2 Flight Scoring when Spare is Different Brand than Mounted Set
C2 Flight Scoring when Spare is Different Brand than Mounted Set
The Judging Manual states the spare tire is judged separately (still must meet same requirements as for the mounted set). That said, has anyone been dinged for having a spare that is a different brand than the mounted set?
Re: C2 Flight Scoring when Spare is Different Brand than Mounted Set
Thanks Don. I didn't see any mention of that but maybe it's in the new Manual? Anyway, thanks for the update and yes, it is an original US Royal Safety 800 spare, no DOT markings.
Re: C2 Flight Scoring when Spare is Different Brand than Mounted Set
You are correct Don! If the spare is a reproduction DOT tire it must match the 4 road tires. If the spare is an original tire it just has to meet the judging criteria for the model year.

Joe,
Maybe an example situation would help me. What would the deduction be for having:
A) 4 reproduction OEM brand tires that only differ from original by having the DOT, plus a 100% correct, original, not-DOT spare, but that doesn’t match the road tires
vs.
B) 5 matching, reproduction OEM brand tires that only differ from original by having the DOT
Gary
1) 4 DOT on the car and one DOT spare = 3 point deduction
2) 4 DOT on the car and one non-DOT spare = 2 point deduction. Could be a condition hit if the spare is worn.
Assumption, all tire match type, model and size for model year.
Re: C2 Flight Scoring when Spare is Different Brand than Mounted Set
The JRM is exactly what I referenced.
If they are all DOT reproduction tires they ALL must match including the spare.
If the Spare is an original non DOT tire, it only has to match the particular year's acceptable tires. The spare does not have to match the road tires if it is original and the road tires are DOT reproductions.
