    Tight 62 4 speed clearance.

I have a 62 340 hp with the 4 speed Borg Warner. The 3-4 linkage rubs against the driver's side transmission tunnel. I've attached a poor picture. Now I see that the front universal joint seems VERY close to the driveshaft tunnel.

    Thoughts?

A picture of the whole arm would help. As for drive shaft are there spacers between trans and cross mount? Does the drive shaft hit under a hard load?

Check motor mounts and trans mount.

        X2 what John said.

Especially if it just started doing this and or if they are old.

If the drivers side motor mount is shot the engine will lift and bring the trans closer to the floor board upon acceleration...on the shift rod side of course.

Always replace mounts as a set and do the trans mount.

Put them in loose then drop the engine then tighten...if you can get in there with a wrench. In a GM A body they go in much easier loose, but they have wrench access once lowered onto the pads. I know a C2 or 3 has wrench access.

Steer clear of chineasium junk! I think Droman or Anchor are still USA made.

Motor mounts and trans mounts are new.

How long has it been this way? Have you had recent work done on the drivetrain? Is rear differential all tight? Something has broken or shifted somewhere. Start looking closely from the motor mounts to the rear of the car.

For '62, a change was made in how the rear transmission mount is connected to the frame cross member. Check the AIM and verify you have the added parts.
It would be helpful to post a photo of the entire shifter & linkage area, as well as the transmission rear mount to cross member connection.

Also verify the dimensions old vs new. All it takes is a 1/4" difference to cause a problem in an already limited space.
Where did you source the new mounts?
