68/69 L71 Throttle return spring bracket

    Guys,
I am going through my late Sept 68 build L71 for Flight judging and have a question. The throttle return spring on my car is attached like a 68 not per the 69 photo in the TIGM (6th ed). My car has the original carbs on it and an unrestored car. I posted pics of the number on my base plate that appears to be an earlier number than what is in the manual.
    What is correct?

    Thanks

    Lawrence

    Lawrence,
The sliver of a picture to the left of the picture you show from the TIM&JG appears to show the throttle return spring to be attached just like on your car(though the spring end appears to be hooked from underneath rather than over the top)...as of March 1968. Yours being a September 1968 car, I would think that your car is correct.

There has been "Lots" of updates, revisions, changes... whatever we want to call them to the 6th Edition TIM&JG. This is one area I have "plopped" a few other pictures in to help clarify things. I think the additional spring retainer is an early 69 model year addition. Yours being an early 69 build (September 68) confirms my thoughts, maybe added October, November. I think they moved the spring away from the outside carb linkage because the spring interfered with it. My 68 April built car does interfere, more than a little. Maybe we can get a few more posts to hone in on the date it changed.

For clarification the trim tag date is C05. The alternator is dated 8J10 the carbs are dated late July with one dated first week of August 68. Tranny P22 (Sept 22 1968) The block is a CE block 512 casting dated June 69 not any help here. Heads are dated Sept 17 and 18 1968. Not sure if this is helpful or not.
