    58 Window Regulator Seal

I ordered these from Corvette Central and I am trying to figure out where they go exactly. It says its for the window regulator and accelerator. I looked it up in the AIM and it is still unclear to me. The parts from Corvette Central do not have a hole in the middle which I would think it should.

Can anyone help me figure out where these go and maybe have a picture of it in place?

For the Accelerator it goes on the inside of the firewall between the firewall and the insulation. There was a hole in the insulation that it fits into. I put the dimple towards the firewall and then just poke a small hole for accelerator rod to fit through. Haven,t done the window regulators but would assume same sort of thing on door , between door and door panel?

Jason, Yes you'll have to punch holes in them yourself.

On the 58-62, the accelerator seal must be installed before the insulation is installed. Did you do the insulation yet?

You can see a little bit of it below, where the lever upper bend is.

For the doors, it slides over the regulator shaft to seal the space where air/water can get to the backside of the door panel. Hard to see on a black car door, it's behind the crank in this photo.

        Thanks Rich,

Your pictures help out a lot. I am guessing that the flat side of the rubber seal faces towards the inside of the cab?

Yes, I already installed the insulation but I can easily remove some of the plugs to gain access.

        Thanks again,
        Jason

Jason, On the firewall, the cupped part faces rear, flat side glued on the firewall.

Iirc, same for the door, cupped side toward interior, flat side against door skin. I'll look at the several C1 AIMs I have later when back home, it may have better detail.

Rich, so you are saying that the cupped part faces inside the car and the flat side goes up against the firewall?

Yes, and for the pedal lever, do a test of lever movement where it goes through firewall, so the "small" hole you punch in the seal will be centered in it's Idle to WOT positions.

And as far as the glue used, would that just be weatherstripping adhesive? I see the AIM calls for 3709786 cement, but I am unable to find anything on Google when I search for that.

Yes, I always used the 3M Black W/Strip adhesive.
