    65/66 Tele Turn signal Switch

Looking for the GM and/or Delco part number for the turn signal switch for my 65 with tele wheel. Also looking to purchase an NOS or good used switch. Any help is appreciated.

      Mark,
Thanks for the heads up. Seems all I found are reproductions. Hoping to find a real Delco switch. So the Chevrolet part number is 5694262. ??

Yes. That # is from a 1965 Chevrolet parts catalog.

Re: 65/66 Tele Turn signal Switch

I have never seen an NOS original switch. Pics of the switch in this thread do have the metal reinforcement plate over the bearing. This is a must. The other repro switch I have seen did not use the reinforcement. The weak part of this design is where the 2 screws secure the metal plate. The switch would always split at the location of these screws. In the 70s and 80s I rebuilt a lot of these columns. There was a switch that would work but the base needed to be machined on a lathe with a holding fixture. I would reuse the harness and metal plate from the original switch.

Thank you for the insight Brian.

So you suggest using my original switch and combining it with a reproduction.??

Is your original switch cracked at the two screw holes that are by the bearing? If so, no. Only thing that happens to the old switch is those cracks. And the upper piece that lever screws to gets brittle and hole for lever is bad sometimes. I still have nos for that upper part. Believe GM called it a plate.

Lectric-limited makes a nice replacement switch. when i bought my 65 3 years ago the plate that mounts on top the upper bearing was missing. that plate is called an upper bearing plate...has to be there for the tele to work properly.
i believe i got that plate from corvette central

Hi Dave, I hope you don't mind me stepping in this thread, as I'm also experiencing a similar issue with my '67. However, my car does not have the tilt tele, so my question is are "all turn signal switches" equal (63-67)? I too haven't pulled apart the column, it doesn't look like any fun. And I am being told that the wire harnesses won't fit thru the bracket, a friend had to pull out each individual pin from the wire connector block on the firewall end of the harness, then reinsert each wire after fishing the wires through....Seems I need help here too...thx!
