    Refinishing a '71 Convertible

With the body separated from the frame, undercoating and paint removed chemically, minor body cracks repaired and three coats of OMNI MP282 high build primer and surfacer on the body, I am having an issue finding someone to refinish the Mille Miglia Red '71 body. Granted I am looking for some one who understands the "NCRS' refinishing process, as the car is being prepared for judging. I would think a single stage urethane product would be best for the finish I am trying to achieve.

However to my surprise I am having difficulty finding a service provider, in the Texas area, who can take on the project in a reasonable amount of time or at all.
(would prefer to have the body painted while it is separated from the frame). I have come to the point where I am willing to travel.

Hopefully I can get some suggestions for a refinishing service provider, that members have had good experiences with. Apprecoiate any input.

Non-NCRS paint? Can you find a shop to paint a 70% deduct BC/CC?

      Joe,
I have a friend here in the DFW area that owns a Corvette restoration shop and they do beautiful work. They have completed several NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold cars. With that said, he wouldn't take your car in and just do a paint job on top of all the prep you have done. He has to guarantee his work and he can't do that if he can't guarantee the prep. He would have to take the car all the way back down to bare glass and start the prep all over again. This might be what you're experiencing from the shops you've spoken to...they don't want the risk of their paint job bubbling or cracking due to the prep work. They're just covering their hind quarters.
If you want his name and phone number, you can send me a PM.

        Joe,

If you're confident about how the car is prepped, I wonder if Leif's guy would spray the car with the understanding he's not responsible for paint failure.

Also, have you reached out to Carr in Plano? You probably know him since he's a past sponsor of the Chapter. I've never hired him but he seems flexible and accommodating.

Reach out to me directly and I'll share who to avoid in the DFW area.

          Mark,
This is my friend who I was discussing in my post. We were out to dinner not to long ago discussing this exact topic. I will NOT paint anyone else's prep work...period. Great guy with a great shop and great reputation.
