    C2 parts restoration services recommendations

Starting a body off on a 63 and figure to send a few parts out to experts for restoration. Who can do the following:
    1. Steering box
    2. A arms with rivets
    3. Trailing arms
    4. Harmonic balancer
    5. Horn repair
    6. Rebuild and test run 360 HP FI engine (the FI doesn't need rebuilt, just the engine. But I'd like to send the complete engine so it comes back ready to install and start.)

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Steering box------Gary Ramadei (can contact through this board)

A-Arms with rivets------Bair's (advertises in Driveline)

    Trailing arms-------Gary Ramadei or Bairs

Harmonic balancer-----Damper Doctor (located in Oregon; do a search)

Horn repair-----there used to be a guy named Dennis Portka in New York; I don't know if he still does this. Don't know of any others but you can look through the Driveline

Troy, I used Horn Works in Wisconsin for my horns. Call Gary Steinkellner at 608-361-0095. I actually bought horns from Gary and was happy with them.

You could try Brian Tilles at Corvette Specialties of Maryland West for other miscellaneous restoration items. i'm not sure what all they do but I have used them for my clock and glove box door restoration and purchased parts and have been very happy.

With regard to engine rebuild I don't have a specific referral but would recommend you use a professional engine builder. You can't go wrong with a blueprinted engine in my opinion. At the very least, make sure they use deck plates when the block is honed. Again....my opinion.

        Good Luck.
        Terry

My block was unfortunately decked under previous ownership. He was not a numbers guy and never noticed the stamping was almost completely shaved off.

                  Troy,

For the steering box and the trailing arms, I wouldn't go to anyone but NCRS member Gary Ramadei. You won't get better service and HE performs all the work himself. He is a machinist and has all the required tools and milling equipment to do the work. I know Bair's advertises in the Drive Line, but you won't get the personal service, precision work, and excellent communication during the rebuild process you will get from Gary. He may not have as fast of turn-a-round time but it is worth the wait.

                  Best Regards,

                  James West
