Decklid Spring Replacement for a C2

One of my decklid springs was broken and I was thinking, it was going to be a major problem. So I searched the best way to replace these springs. It turned out to be a relatively easy job. Actually, the hardest part was getting the hinges out. There are two bolts to the rear and one in the center of the hinge. I used the process where I would put the spring on a floor jack and spread it to the approximate correct length. Then I put wooden wedges between the coils and then released the jack. I then slipped the expanded spring onto the hinge and removed the wedges. I took the other hinge off the same way with the wooden wedges and re-installed it the same way. Hope this helps!

I've used popsicle sticks in the past also. You can get a pack at the dollar store, and put multiple sticks in to fill in the space.
