Best way to remove DOT markings from rubber fuel and brake lines

    Guys,

I'm trying to remove the DOT markings on my fuel and brake lines for judging purposes. I was thinking of using some paint thinner but wondered if that would weaken the rubber? Is there an optimal way to remove these markings?

A quick wipe with lacquer thinner or acetone will take them right off. You're not going to be soaking the rubber...you'll be fine.

I use brake fluid. It will not harm the rubber hoses and it sure will remove paint and ink and dye.

          A rag dampened with acetone.

Yes, much easier than grinding off the DOT numbers on tires and making it look original.

                  John,

Yes and no. The double crimp differs from the original single crimp. But there is no deduction for the double crimp per se.
