Holley 4150 Inlet Needle and Seat Replacement

Can the inlet needle and seat on a Holley 2818-1 / 4160 carburetor be replace without removing the float bowl? Sorry, I can’t change the thread title that reads 4150. I can’t get the float level set so it stops leaking (flooding) into the primary side of carb. Also where is a good place to purchase an overhaul kit that doesn’t have blue gaskets in the kit? Actually, I’d like to find and buy replacement inlet need and seat assembly with the viton O-ring and needle. I believe the correct size is 0.097”?

    Thanks,

    James

Thankd for the information. Do the inlet needles in the kit have the viton tips?

Purchase a kit with the blue gaskets. Purchase a black felt tip pen and color the gasket edges black...... Takes about 30 seconds per gasket.......if you are slow......

Make sure you correctly identify the model when ordering parts. The thread title says 4150 but the diagram in the image shows a 4160.

Your problem might not be a bad needle and seat. Could be a pin hole in the float. Remove float, shake it to see if you hear gas inside. if not sure put float in a bowl of gas and see if float sinks which means it's full of gas. Less likely is too high fuel pressure.

But to answer your question about replacing needle and seat, no, you can do this without removing float bowl

                    William,

I will be getting back to working on the car next week. I bought the Viton tipped inlet need a seats from Holley along with the upper and lower fiber gaskets. I found locally the correct size Viton O-rings for the inlet need and seats. Holley could not tell me if the inlet needle and seats they sell were in fact equipped with the Viton O-rings. I plan to replace the O-rings on the new inlet need and seats with the Viton O-rings.

Will report back when I'm done.

                    James
