    1965 Intermittent RH brake lights

The right rear brake lights on my 65 are only working intermittently.
I am sure the problem is in the indicator assembly on the steering column as the left and right indicators work OK.
When I have the hub of I cannot get the fault to appear!
I have sprayed contact cleaner into the switch assembly and the fault still appears when I am driving according to those behind me.
I would like to have a closer look at the contacts but they are under the cancelling pawl.

Once the bolt is removed from the pawl can the pawl be removed or is it fastened from the rear?
    Thanks,
    Gary

Gary, what I would try is wiggle the.turn signal lever while stepping on the brakes and see if the light flickers at all.or try the connector under dash, sometime just a slight movement will tell you the problem. Generally its a wire that is about to break or is broken on switch.

I just had a very similar problem, and ended up being the signal flasher was loose. Pushed back in and all is well.

I had the same problem on a 66 Corvette, but with the left brake light. I disconnected both steering column connectors (near bottom of column inside car) and cleaned contacts. Problem stopped after reconnection. A simple process that may be worth a try.
