1958 Front Sway Bar End Links Help

I am trying to install what I think are called the sway bar end links on my 58 Corvette. I am wondering if I may have the sway bar in upside down because the end links don't line up very well on one side and on the other side I can't even get the top rubber and metal piece on.

I read about using a wratchet strap to help squeeze everything together for the install and I also tried making my own tool. Was able to get one side on with wratchet strap but the rubber grommets don't line up and don't sit right. See photos below.

Do I have the sway bar in upside down or what's wrong here?

Yup, it's upside down. Flip it around and you will see it line up.

Jason after you swap it over, it'll be easier to connect the end links after the body and full weight is on the frame. If you attach them now it will severely distort the rubber link bushings as the suspension is fully extended.

After body/weight on, then jack up each lower A-Arm one at a time to attach the links.
