Question on My Very Early C2(66) Retractor Pocket Holder Cover Black

Got some points taken off for the above at the INCRS judging meet this last May. (Was a very well
thought out meet thanks to Gary Bosselman) The ones on my very early(Sept.65 made) have
some wear/torn/age on them. Question: Does anybody have and installed the new reproductions ones
that can be bought through several venders. eg.>Zip-Corvette Central and etc. How close are they
to the originals? Can one tell them apart? Picture Below. Thanks in Advance>Larry P.S. If they are not
close to the originals will keep my aged originals on.

Good Morning Larry. Personally I Would Stay With Your Aged Covers. Accept The Condition Deduction While Gaining On Originality Points

Hard to believe no one on this board has had any experience or input on these repro parts. It is was it is.
Unless anybody else knows something on this I will take Peter"s(Above) advice and keep the originals
(Which are old and worn) on the car and just take the hit on the points for Condition. Thanks>Larry

That item has 2 other components on the line and worth 4 points total on both originality and condition. 2 points per side divided by 3 items does not yield a point deduction unless it is missing. Noted on judging sheet yes, deduction no.

Mike: Thanks for the response. Have you seen these new reproductions on the judging field? Are they even
close to the originals? Just curious. Thanks Again>Larry

I have not seen them. But if you are using CDCIF correctly, there is no deduction on small components on a line item with multiple items on that line. Keep it original. It was my pleasure to judge that bowtie candidate 67 at Rochester. Hearing stories about Uncle Henry's car from the owner help make it a very enjoyable experience.

I thought very early (like yours) '65's did not have retractors?

Hi Kent- His car is an early 66.. The retractor boot came out early in 65 production, as you say..

I have an early 66 car with an Oct 8th 65 build date and i purchased the correct repro belts along with the retractor boots and have never had an issue during judging, bought them direct from the company that makes them and then had the correct labels installed

For concours judging, it's all about condtion. There is no originality points. It just needs to be pretty. Beauty contest. Witch hunt for dirt.
Use a heat gun taking the old ones off, preserve them for when you want to Flight judge the car.

Gary: Thanks for the advice; will run it through Flight Judge at some point. Thanks again for doing all
work and the Time/Effort for such a nice meet in Pontiac. Do you think we will go to the same place
next year? I'll vote for that as a member. Larry
