Re: '63 Frame coating question
Jack, Back in the late 60's, 70's, & 80's there was a Black Satin paint available thru GM Dealer's Parts Departments, under Group#8.800 & Part #1050104 in a Gallon Can, Called "Reconditioning Paint" We bought it in 4 Gallon Boxes at Chevy Dealers! Used on Frames, Suspensions, all underhood metal parts sometimes "Dipping" small parts. It was a SATIN Finish & we also used it on underhood & wheel well Blackouts. I believe it is not available thru GM now, but heard that someone was "Reproducing" the GM Satin Reconditoning Paint.
GOOD LUCK!! Barry Holmes- Top

Re: '63 Frame coating question
Was going thru boxes of vette parts and supplies today from 23 plus yrs ago and found 1 unopened quart of Q-coat. Can still hear it when shaking, fingers crossed that it is still good. Any guesses? I'm starting to think I shot the frame years ago with Q-coat. Any thoughts or opinions from these pictures that the Q-coat has lost some of its gloss after all these years.
