Hacked emails

A member has informed that he received an email purported to be from me. It says that pictures we discussed are attached. Do not open the attachment; I do not know what it contains. I have not sent any pictures to anyone.

To clarify, IT informs me that NCRS has not been hacked. My name was most likely grabbed from the address book of another member.

This is very commonplace the last month or so. All the ones I have received are also addressed to only other NCRS members I know, very odd.

Receiving an email does not necessarily mean the sender was hacked, in this case Dave Brigham. Our names are in the public domain. All a scammer need do is create a new Gmail, Yahoo or some other account with your name. Then they are good to go. Who they send it to (you and me), our names and email addresses are all over the internet. Just google yourself and you will be surprised as to what is public. A guest can get into the NCRS website and see lot's of names.

Log-out of NCRS and go in as a guest, then click on CONTACTS. You can see all chapter board members, region directors and National Board members. We give the information away for free.

John: sorry you were bothered. have a couple other friends who have been similarly hacked. mike
