Right yoke for 1962 borg warner

    Hi

I am having an original 1962 Borg Warner T-10 that was in a buick being rebuilt and converted to be put into my 1960 vette. I am reading that it was 16 spline yoke but also that there were two different lengths - short one with spline length roughly 3.5 inches - used on power glide? and a roughly 4.9 inch used on 4 speed. Do I have this right?

    Thanks for your help.

A similar question on yolks was posted around 1-24-22. Grp. 5.555 PN 3712379 is the only yolk listed for '55-62 corv. It is 16 spline with a length of 4.93. There was a second yolk designed 11-28-56 with revisions made 5-18-60. It was also 16 splines with a length of 3.53. This yoke PN 3744777 does not show up in the P & A book and I am not sure if this was used on power glide cars.

There are several 3712379 on eBay. From $112 to $250. Both repro and NOS.

        Good Luck

Because of the short driveshaft length (34 1/2" c/c) and the larger pinion angle of a C1, the yoke moves in and out of the transmission a greater length as the axle moves up and down. A longer yoke provides a longer amount of the splines to be engaged to the transmission main shaft. A shorter yoke can allow the splines to distort. If you have had a yoke that will not slide all the way into the transmission tailshaft, that is usually the condition.
