Are the LL date coded plug wires better constructed then in the past? Very fragile and prone to break causing an open wire. Just purchased a set for my 65 327/3654 coupe that will be NCRS judged.
Dave, tried two sets of LL wires, never ran right and finally one quit on me. Got a set of Summit Racing spiral wound wires, cut to size and used a good crimping tool to install dist. end contacts, best car ever ran, the wires are black and you can take off the markings etc. Make an ink stamp and you're done.

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!
Wire has always been a tough call. Look for a reel/spool of high quality wire and build your own. It might be more expensive with a stamp for the date code but you will be better in the long run. I found an original 100 ft spool of 4Q62 wire a few years back. Built 4 sets and the car runs great.

Go with a solid copper core for best results.
Each of the wires were sent to St Louis by Packard Electric assembled to length for each position and date coded. All the original wire sets I have seen have several date codes. A wire set all with the same date code is highly suspicious. I know it will be a PITA, but get several date code stamps and offer them to others when you are done.

Terry, as I recall, LL only makes wires from the First and Third quarter of the year. That's to fit our (NCRS) 6 month rule.
