    2004 Corvette Left Headlamp Actuator

    Good Afternoon--
Our friend has a 2004 Corvette Coupe that she purchased new. It has never experienced any front end body damage, however recently the left hand headlight will "open," but makes a grinding noise when it closes. The local Chevrolet dealer stated that the car needs a "left headlamp actuator, Part # 19207409" but this part is no longer manufactured/available. They further stated that they would be happy to install the part once she locates one. Help please. Any suggestions where she might find the subject working part?? Thanks in advance!!

    Rob, A online search...
Keeping your 2000-2004 Corvette roadworthy is important. Making sure your nighttime visibility is uninterrupted is even more important.

Allegedly, some on the corvetteforum have stated just the gears can be replaced.

My brother had this problem and just replaced the gear for the headlight. Corvette Central offers a brass gear to replace the plastic gear that GM provided. He did both headlight motors while he was at it.

it is usually the 3 plastic pieces that turn to dust. Fairly simple fix. Look in the Corvette supplier catalogs at the headlight repair sections and this will make sense. Do both lights and do one at a time so you have a reference to look at how it goes back together.
There are several YouTube videos on how to do this.
        Good luck!

I replaced the gears in my headlight motors with brass gears. It's a pretty simple task check Youtube on how to do it.
