1973 Anti-theft Audio Alarm Flasher
Attached Images
I just removed the original anti-theft audio flasher from my '73 and found it to be embossed: MADE IN U.S.A., 552-12V, DOT, PAT. NO. RE 24023. In the center is embossed, "tS". There is a green ring around the canister. See pictures attached. The same brand 552 flasher is in the 4-way hazard flasher unit under the dash. Its never been replaced, original from factory with similar markings.
My '73 has a built time date L06, July 6, 1973. That is the last month for production of a 1973 Corvette model year.
Page 48 of the 73-74 3rd Edition Tech manual only references the Ideal Corp 552 brand with green label as the flasher. I suggest we note when judging that other manufacturers, i.e., Tung-Sol. also was used for the audio-alarm system. It's probably true that all 552 flashers, if made by "t/S" and used in Corvettes in 1973 production year, are embossed with the Pat. No. as shown in the pictures attached. Any comments?
