chrome air cleaner question for ncrs judging

Good morning , looking to find out if there is a chrome process out there available that will pass ncrs judging. I have tried to find a nice 66/67 air cleaner lid with little luck . The new oem ones have show chrome which is a deduct. I then checked into rechroming my original and no one i found does flash chrome but one vendor calls it factory chrome and most all only do show chrome . Sounds like the factory chrome which is the level on the factory bumpers etc would be ok for the lid without any point deductions. any info or answers to my question would be great
    regards Bob

Bob, I'd imagine that you could find one online or at a swap meet. One with some small imperfections would pass as long as the stencil on the back is present. Keep looking, this lid should be out there. Good reproduction stickers for engine callout are available, also.

When the lid was originally chromed, it was placed in a jig that secured it from the underside. As a result the stud hole was nicely chromed on the top and the bottom. The person I used did not have that jig. He used the stud hole. As a result the stud hole is not nicely chromed. It was a $300 learning process for me. I do not know if anyone does it the same as the factory. If I had it do over, I'd take the condition hit during judging and move along.

The air cleaner is worth 20 condition points. If you give 7 to the top, screen and bottom, you might be looking at 25% of 7 points, or a 2 point condition hit.

Give Richard Fortier a call (advertises in the Driveline and is also a member). I believe he has someone who does what you need.

Sokolowski will have a air cleaner lid core, mabie a good original not in need of re chrome. Vern's chrome in Gardena CA can do proper flash chrone as opposed to show chrome. I think Paragon also can stencil the underside if not the entire process. 2 expensive points vs cost-
a good repro is $85 or so at Paragon.
