Re: GM heritage site / AMA

I have software that will download multiple file types based on all the links displayed on a page. It also traverses those links downward. I downloaded the entire library of GM documents. Anyone own a 1902 Cadillac, that's what it begins with? Definitely not a link for the 68 year but that seems to be the only exception. It looks like many of these are white text on black backgrounds and as pointed out, not a very good quality.

Unfortunately true. I went to the site the other day and nothing. It seems now one must submit a request. Pathetic.

        Thomas,

I downloaded all the Corvette docs as well - and sent a link to Rich in case he wants to upload them to the Restoration Documents Sticky Post...and I agree with you, many are of poor quality. Unless someone out there has super high-end software, I believe OCR is probably out of the question...it would be more work to fix the resulting errors than just starting from scratch (?)

I think you'll also find the 1982 Corvette doc is missing, too...

and BTW, there's no 1983 there either...hmmm (just kidding)
        thx,
        Mark

          Hi Brian,

I just went in to the site and the links below seem to work for the documents...
see if these work for you for whatever year(s) you're looking for...hope this helps...

Note: 1968 and 1982 produce the following message: Not Found The requested URL /docs/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits/corvette/1968 (and 1982)-chevrolet-corvette.pdf was not found on this server.

          thx,
          Mark

Re: GM heritage site / AMA

i don't get the worry about not being able to download, I didn't find any information on that site that isn't in either the Black Book or other reference manuals that I have for either my 62 Corvette or 66 Chevelle. So please explain the concern!

Keep trying the 1968 and 1982 document download. Eventually they come up. I was able to download them yesterday.

Below are the working links for 1968 and 1982 Corvette.
I was able to get them to come up by clicking on the blue arrow that points to the right in the upper right corner of the broken link page. See attached pic.
Basically that changes the link on the server to where those documents are located.

This is great! I am not familiar with the "Wayback Machine" archive site - does anyone know if these links will stay up and active for a long time? Or...... can we expect Wayback to take them down sometime in the future?
