I wanted to check and make sure I understand, is it one vote for each member number, and so not one for each person under that member number? Thanks.

Re: Regional Director Voting
Michael,
Regarding any conversations that may take place, this subject has been broached before by me personally. Many moons ago in a small Corvette club in the S.F. Bay Area, it was obvious that some of the most involved, valuable, active, and contributing individuals were the spouses of members but they didn’t get to vote on club business even when they were in attendance at all the meetings. I made a pitch to the membership and asked for a show of hands in favor of spouses having the right to vote on club matters.
It wasn’t lost on me that the members would be visibly voting while their spouses were sitting next to them at the meeting. Needless to say, it passed unanimously and spouses have voted ever since. It was the right thing to do for a small club with a very high percentage of spouses active in all events and present at the meeting when voting was conducted.
Fast forward a few years and I had some conversations on this subject with NCRS members from different parts of the country with various family situations. The issues and concerns were:
* For a ‘couple’ that are equal partners in all things NCRS, it makes sense for each to vote especially when they don’t agree on an issue.
* For ‘families’ with more than one associate member who were active, should they get more than two votes, etc.
* For a member with an uninvolved and uninterested associate member, it doesn’t make sense.
* Single members felt their vote was being devalued to a half vote since some members would be voting their own way twice with an uninvolved associate member who may be unaware of NCRS and voting.
For a large organization with a fairly small percentage of equally engaged associate members, it doesn’t work for the vast majority. The one thing that seemed agreeable to most was if two equally active participants in a household wanted to vote independently, they could each have their own membership number. That is what the current bylaws reflect for national and chapter memberships.Last edited by Arland D.; September 19, 2022, 06:43 PM.- Top

Thanks for the background Arland. It makes sense. When I first joined I never thought my wife would be so involved in things and know so many people.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
