Two lessons on my 1992 ZR-1 A/C that you've not experienced yet:
1) A/C High pressure Schrader valve is referred to as "GM Deep Access" and a regular R12 A/C pressure hose won't work. Found two adapters; Santech R12 high pressure port adapter for GM Deep Access 1991 & later part no.: MT0436 & Mastercool part no.: 90338. Both are less than $10 bucks and constructed of brass. Don't know if C4's pass 1992 have this deep access Schrader valve or not.
2) Heater door, that let's in outside air seal appears to have dissolved and A/C temp at vents were 59~60 degrees. Ran the A/C on recirculate and the A/C vent temp was 40 on a 100 degree plus day.

You make some good points Mark. But I guess after all these years as a C2 guy (a car I lusted for in high school but was never able to afford until much later in life) I have become comfortable with them.
