1962 002E Voltage Regulator Inop - Repair Referals?

A buddy of mine in TX has a '62 with a 002E regulator that went bad. It fails VR tests and he isn't savy enough to fix it.

I searched here and in the latest Driveline but failed to find anyone who works on them.

    Any leads appreciated.

The problem with working on the 1119 voltage regulator is that no parts are available. I have searched all over for parts that match the originals.

I got the last 1119 solid state conversion from NH. It is now in 62 #5234. I don't think anyone does the conversions now.

        As I thought, both issues.

A fellow (non-TDB) Member, via another (non-TDB) Member buddy of mine, gave me a lead on someone who used to own a elec shop way back when.

I'll be calling him. If it works out, with his permission, I'll pass his info back here.

P.S. Since it's a original real VR, the owner wants to stay original. I recall Ken Anderson [K&B] called me years ago when he produced the C2/C3 electronic conversion. He was considering a C1 conversion. Unfortunately his marketing analysis showed not enough interest. Too bad. He is missed(RIP).

          Rich,

I have no experience with Tim Bartsch, but he may be able to help?

I was going to have him do my original '67, but I haven't located it yet in my parts stashes...

Factory original radiator cap restoration, oil cap restoration, gas cap restoration, Delco Remy voltage regulator restoration.

          His website says:

Thanks Mark, But just went to his site. States he does 1962 onward but doesn't show the C1 00x flavors, only the C2/3 515/512's. I think his 1962 reference is for Pass/Trucks?

OK - sorry, Rich. He says he has NOS stuff, too...dunno if he has an 002E layin' around or not

PS - he told me he will also just do the restoration of the guts w/o restoring the exterior features...mine was very original in terms of finish, so I was thinking I might go that way (nothing to do w/ the lesser cost, either).
              thx,
              Mark

                Richard,

I don't know if this will help, but I have an NOS Delco-Remy D-618 voltage regulator. This is part # 1119003. My 1970 Delco book shows this regulator fits 1956-1961 Corvette. 1962 seems to be a one-year-only regulator. I don't know the difference but maybe the "003" has similar internal parts that can be used for a repair. Let me know if interested and I can post photos. Willing to sell since I have no need for it.

Rocco, I recall it has a different spec and internal configuration. Thanks but we'd like to just get this one fixed.
