C2 (67) Both Regular headlights suddenly stop working while driving

My C2 (67) regular bean headlights all of a sudden stopped working while I was out driving. My high beans work perfectly as all four headlights light. All other lights are also functions perfectly including dashboard.

Any suggestions as to where to begin to troubleshoot?

Possibly the floor dimmer beam switch...corrosion inside. You might try pushing the switch several times to see if you can get contact.

      Hi Leif,

Thank you for your prompt response.

The floor switch seems to be working properly as I can press it and all four headlights will turn on. However when I turn off my high beams my regulars headlights cut out completely.

Ira, sometimes the electrical connector on the high beam switch gets corroded from you feet being wet and soaking through the carpet over the years, it’s a easy check. Sometimes you can turn the low beams on and wiggle the connection to see if the lights flicker, also there’s another I think under hood by the drivers side front, in front of Rad. Support.

Thanks Edward, I'll give it a shot. I hope it's just that simple. I assumed it wasn't a ground issue because if it was then all the headlights would be out as I believe that whole headlight electrical run leads to one ground.

          Thanks for the input.

Don't discount the possibility of burned out filaments in both headlights. Check the voltage at the connectors and/or substitute known good headlights. Douse the headlight connectors with Deoxit-D5.

A week ago i was driving my 95 Z 28 to work at 4 o'clock in the morning. I live in the country came to an oncoming car and shut off my brights and wham no low beams. I brought the car home and later started looking into what the heck happened 2 bulbs cant go at once. I bought 2 bulbs anyway and sure enough both bulbs were blown. So either both went at once or one was already gone and i did not know it. If that was the case i broke my own rule that i drummed into my kids heads. Always walk around your car and check everything at least once a week.
