1969 Good source for NEW whitewall tires and a spare strictly for judging

    Guys,

I'm interested in getting a set of whitewalls (what the car was delivered with) and a spare that are NEW but that are as close as possible to original configuration for the purposes of judging. These will only be put on for the car to be judged. NOT interested in getting old, original tires. Is there anything out there new that can minimize point deductions?

You'll lose 3 points out of 30 for DOT, make all 5 tires the same.

Mike, I used tires from Kelsey tire for my 72, which did very well for judging reasons, My 72 used the good year RWL. I would look on there website see if they make the correct white wall tires for 69. Have the judging manual with you so you have the details.

            OK three
points I can live with. So is that how all the cars were outfitted? The spare always matched the type of tire on the car?

Guys I reached out to Kelsey tire and unfortunately they have told me the white wall tires are out of stock and will not be in until 2024! Is there another source for these tires? If not I will have to delay having my car judged until '24 which sucks.

                    Michael-
You don't have to have a new set of WW tires on your car for flight judging. You can have it judged with the tires on it now.. If they no way resemble any tire available by any maker when your car was new, you would lose 60 points. Out of 4510 total. A little over one percentage point. If by chance your tires now are made by an OEM maker, and are the same size as OEM, your point loss would be just a few points. Don't let Kelsey's supply issue prevent you from having your car judged.

Check out the various websites like Corvette Forum for nice used tires just for judging. Maybe you can find someone near you that would loan you the tires just for judging.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah I guess if its only a 60 point loss I could still get it judged and just do it again when I get the tires. Mike, is there somewhere on the corvette forum where I could look for used tires? I just checked out the website and don't see a for sale area.

                              Mike,

Once you get to the C3 Forum "Parts for sale" there is a " Search Forum " on the right side just type in tires.
