Questions On The Following Picture(Parking Brake Pulley Area)

What is wrong (If anything) on the following picture of the Parking Brake Pulley Area that I had in my
    picture file.(1966 Corvette) Questions>

    1. Looks like the Bolt that holds he pulley supposed to be reversed (A.I.M) Correct?

    2. Pictures show (2) Rubber Caps(Boots) where the cable goes through. I know the top one is the
Correct one from GM as mine has this bigger cap. Not sure on the smaller one below it.
A.I.M. shows none. What is correct here??

    3. The fastener that holds the cable to the pulley bracket is listed in the A.I.M. as a "screw"
(453007); the picture shows a "bolt". Which is correct?

4, Any other comments will be welcomed on this picture. Thanks In Advance > Larry

Yes I know this is not one of the more glamorous parts of the car. It's not like looking at a L72-M22-or Sidepipes BUT
IT IS A PART IF INCORRECT THE JUDGES WILL CATCH IT FOR SURE. Anybody know anything on this part of the
    car?? Thanks again>Larry

      Larry,
64 & 65 AIM show what I believe is the same set up as your 66, however I do not have the 66 to verify, but part numbers are consistent.

      1. Looks like the Bolt that holds he pulley supposed to be reversed (A.I.M) Correct? NO, nut faces toward outside of car as you show.

      2. Pictures show (2) Rubber Caps(Boots) where the cable goes through. I know the top one is the
Correct one from GM as mine has this bigger cap. Not sure on the smaller one below it.
A.I.M. shows none. What is correct here?? Can not see that detail at present.

      3. The fastener that holds the cable to the pulley bracket is listed in the A.I.M. as a "screw"
(453007); the picture shows a "bolt". Which is correct? It's a bolt and nut with nut facing towards outside of car.

So the AIM appears to be incorrect. Note mine has never been removed!

MY 66 A.I.M. SHOWS THE NUT FACING THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. NOT SURE WHAT TO MAKE OF THIS. COULD GM
HAVE CHANGED THIS FOR SOME REASON?

YES ON THE ILLUSTRATION BELOW; LOOKS TO BE A BOLT. MINE (66) LOOKS TO BE ORIGINAL WITH A SCREW.
        MAYBE SOME CHANGES FROM 65 TO 66>>LARRY P.S.ILLUSTRATION SHOWS #192058 MY 66 A.I.M. SHOWS#453007
LISTED AS A SCREW. YOU FIGURE?? THANKS-LARRY

          Added Info>
The #192058 I posted above may not be a GM number but a vendor number. The #453007(Taken From
          The 1966 A.I.M. is a GM Number)>Larry

Larry, One thing to remember when referencing the AIM. Anything that is drawn can only be drawn 1 way. Sometimes orientation is drawn with a nut facing right but it's easier to install with the nut facing left. The assembly line is going to install something the quickest and easiest way if the orientation does not make a difference.

Joseph: Totally agree with you. BUT unless it is proven it was done opposite of the A.I.M. I got to go with what is in the
A.I.M. for judging purposes. If the judges disagree the way the Bolt/Nut is positioned on my car then I will show them the
A.I.M.>THEN IT IS UP TO THEM TO PROVE I'M IN THE WRONG Which THEY CAN NOT DO. CORRECT? LARRY
P.S. AFAIK the C3 front spoiler bolts where installed in reverse by the installer but I believe this was proven somehow.

Re: Questions On The Following Picture(Parking Brake Pulley Area)

Judges evaluate based upon what has been observed on original cars, ie. what was typical of factory production. They do not evaluate based on what is drawn in the AIM. Oftentimes, typical factory production practices did not match the AIM.

Don:Thanks for the response. I assume IF the original cars are observed that in this case(Bolt and Nut) are seen BOTH ways
(Which I suspect) then "both ways" are given full points. Correct? Thanks Again>Larry P.S. Hard to believe that 100% of the
original cars went against what is in the A.I.M.>>JMHO

few if any judges will pay any attention to that pulley assembly. No points are applicable to it. It's not described on the judging sheets. Only the part of the assembly under the car on the frame is.
