1970 350/300 Solenoid Assembly (Part # 1114432) Function

The engine is idling rough and during normal acceleration misses and occasionally backfires. I've checked the connections via the AIM and believe the vacuum hoses are correctly connected. The car has an electronic distributor. Could a malfunctioning solenoid be the issue? How do you test it? Thanks

Are you referring to the TCS solenoid?

Stuck open provides full time vacuum advance; stuck closed there's no vacuum advance. Neither would cause your symptoms.

Check for vacuum leaks.
