    63 Lower control arm bolts

Can someone clarify what the finish is supposed to be on the hardware to attach the lower control arm on a 63? The judging manual states the rear is attached by a "black-phosphate bolt, with serrated washer, that passes down through the frame into a cadmium or zinc plated lock washer and nut, which are also black phosphate."

-There is no reference to the finish on the serrated washer.
-The bolt passes through the frame into a cad or zinc washer and nut, then it says which are also black phosphate. Which is it? This is contradicting...

    Thanks,
    Todd

Todd, on my 63 the rear bolt, washer, nut were Black phosphate. The way it reads the nut and lock washer can be plated Zinc or black, pho’s.either is acceptable.

Ed is correct. The nut and washer can be either black phosphate or zinc plated. The wording could use some cleaning up!

If a high school student wrote that in English class what grade do you think they should get for clarity?

Since no part numbers are referenced in this question, the '63 AIM section 3 sheet 2.00 lists lock washer # 103330 as being utilized. If my guess is correct #103330 is NOT phosphate coated. It is a simple PLAIN HD 9/16 lock washer. If I guessed wrong what is being referenced forget you read this!
