    Distributor cap removal

I had to remove all the plug wires from the cap on my '63 fuelie to get it off. All of the ignition shields are installed and there just doesn't seem to be enough slack in the wires to remove the cap with the wires attached. Am I missing something? Is there some trick?
It has the short cap with the 90 degree wires.

    Regards,
    Jerry

Either the wire are cut too short or they are stuck in some of the holding brackets between the sparkplug and the cap.

Disconnect 1,3,5, and 7 (or 2,4,6, and 8) and lay it to the side that still has wires connected.

Would it be more like 2,1,8,4 or 3,6,5,7 ?

Mike, That's the way I do it. I remove whatever bank is opposite the coil side. Then lay it down.
